My Favorite Pet, Story Reading Level -1 |
One day, Buddy and I were playing fetch when he suddenly stopped and started sniffing around. He found a ball that we had lost a few weeks ago! I was so happy and amazed that he could find it. I gave him a big hug and a treat to show my appreciation.
Buddy also loves to cuddle. Whenever I am feeling sad or upset, he comes over to me and lays his head on my lap. It's as if he knows how I am feeling and wants to make me feel better.
Last summer, we went on a camping trip together. Buddy was so excited to explore the woods and go on long walks. At night, he slept next to me in the tent and kept me warm.
Buddy is not just a pet, he is a part of my family. I love him so much and can't imagine my life without him. He brings me so much joy and happiness, and I am grateful to have him as my favourite pet.

A Day at the Park, Reading Story Level-1 |
After playing for a while, we joined our parents for lunch. We spread out the blanket on the grass and enjoyed sandwiches, fruit, and cookies. While we ate, we watched other families playing frisbee and soccer nearby.
After lunch, we went for a walk around the park. We saw ducks swimming in the pond and even spotted a turtle sunbathing on a log. We also saw a group of musicians playing guitars and singing songs. They were really talented, and we stopped to listen for a while.
Next, we played a game of catch with a baseball and gloves that we had brought. My dad taught my sister and me how to throw and catch properly, and we had a lot of fun. Then, we played a game of tag, running around and laughing until we were out of breath.
As the sun began to set, we started packing up to go home. We were all tired and happy from our day at the park. We hugged each other and said, "Let's do this again soon!" We all agreed that it was a great way to spend a day together.

Once upon a time, there was a little red hen who lived on a farm. She spent her days walking around the farmyard, looking for grains of wheat to eat. One day, she found some wheat seeds scattered on the ground.
The little red hen had an idea. She went to the other animals on the farm and asked them if they would help her plant the wheat. "Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked.
But the dog, the cat, and the pig were all too lazy and refused to help. "Not I," they all said.
The little red hen shrugged and decided to plant the wheat by herself. She dug a small hole in the ground, planted the seeds, and watered them every day until they grew tall and strong.
One day, the little red hen asked the other animals if they would help her cut the wheat. "Who will help me cut this wheat?" she asked.
But the dog, the cat, and the pig were all too lazy and refused to help. "Not I," they all said.
The little red hen shrugged and decided to cut the wheat by herself. She used a sickle to cut the wheat, gathered it into bundles, and carried it to the barn.
One day, the little red hen asked the other animals if they would help her grind the wheat into flour. "Who will help me grind this wheat?" she asked.
But the dog, the cat, and the pig were all too lazy and refused to help. "Not I," they all said.
The little red hen shrugged and decided to grind the wheat into flour by herself. She used a hand-cranked mill to grind the wheat, sifted the flour, and carried it to the kitchen.
One day, the little red hen asked the other animals if they would help her bake bread with the flour. "Who will help me bake this bread?" she asked.
But the dog, the cat, and the pig were all too lazy and refused to help. "Not I," they all said.
The little red hen shrugged and decided to bake the bread by herself. She mixed the flour with water and yeast, kneaded the dough, and baked it into a delicious loaf of bread.
Finally, the little red hen sat down to enjoy her bread. The dog, the cat, and the pig all smelled the delicious aroma and came running to the kitchen. "Can we have some bread too?" they asked.
But the little red hen said, "No, you refused to help me plant the wheat, cut the wheat, grind the wheat, and bake the bread. So, you don't get to eat the bread."
The little red hen enjoyed her bread alone, knowing that she had done all the work herself.

The Ugly Duckling |
Once upon a time, there was a mother duck who sat on her eggs, waiting for them to hatch. When they finally did, she was surprised to find one of her ducklings was different from the others. It was much larger and had gray feathers, while the others were yellow.
All the other ducks and animals made fun of the grey duckling, calling it an ugly duckling. It felt sad and alone, wishing it was like the other ducks.
One day, the ugly duckling decided to leave the pond and search for a place where it could belong. It went through many hardships and was rejected by other animals along the way.
Winter came, and the ugly duckling thought it would not survive. But, to its surprise, the grey feathers started to fall away, revealing beautiful white feathers. It was actually a swan!
When spring came, the swan saw its reflection in the pond and realized how beautiful it had become. The other swans came to greet it, and the ugly duckling finally found a place where it belonged.

The Three Little Pigs |
Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who decided to leave their home and build their own houses. The first little pig built his house out of straw because it was the easiest and quickest material to find. He was lazy and wanted to finish building his house as soon as possible. When he finished building his straw house, he felt very proud of himself and relaxed inside his new home.
The second little pig was a bit smarter than the first little pig. He wanted his house to be a little bit stronger than his brother's straw house, so he decided to build his house out of sticks. Although it took him a bit longer to build his house, he still finished it quickly and felt happy with his new home.
The third little pig, however, was the smartest of them all. He knew that building a strong house would take time and effort, so he decided to use bricks to build his house. He worked hard every day, making sure that each brick was carefully placed and secured.
One day, a big, bad wolf came to the area and saw the three little pigs' houses. He smelled the scent of the pigs inside and decided that he was going to eat them. He went to the first little pig's house and said, "Little pig, little pig, let me in!"
But the first little pig knew that the wolf was up to no good, so he said, "Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!"
The wolf got angry and decided to blow the straw house down. With just one big breath, the straw house fell apart, and the first little pig had to run to his brother's house made of sticks.
The wolf followed him to the second little pig's house and said, "Little pig, little pig, let me in!"
But the second little pig also knew that the wolf was dangerous, so he said, "Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!"
The wolf huffed and puffed and blew the stick house down. The two pigs ran to their brother's house made of bricks.
The wolf followed them to the brick house and said, "Little pig, little pig, let me in!"
But the third little pig knew that the wolf was dangerous, so he said, "Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!"
The wolf huffed and puffed, but he couldn't blow the brick house down. The three little pigs were safe inside. The wolf eventually gave up and left, and the three little pigs lived happily ever after in their strong and secure brick house.

The next day, the boy got bored again and cried out, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is attacking the sheep!" The villagers heard him and came running, but once again, they found that there was no wolf. The boy laughed and thought it was funny.
A few days later, a real wolf came and started attacking the boy's sheep. The boy cried out, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is attacking the sheep!" But this time, the villagers didn't believe him because he had lied to them before. The boy was left to deal with the wolf on his own and lost many of his sheep.

The gingerbread man ran out of the house and down the road, shouting, "Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!"
As he was running, he met a cow in the field. The gingerbread man taunted the cow, "I'm a gingerbread man and I'm running away. Can you catch me?"
The cow tried to catch him, but the gingerbread man was too fast. The gingerbread man continued running and met a horse, a sheep, and a farmer, all of whom he taunted and ran away from.
Finally, the gingerbread man reached a river that he could not cross. A sly fox came up to him and offered to help him cross the river by letting him ride on his back. The gingerbread man was wary, but he was also tired and decided to take the fox up on his offer.
As they crossed the river, the fox said, "Gingerbread man, you are too heavy. Jump onto my nose and I'll carry you across." The gingerbread man jumped onto the fox's nose, but as they were about to reach the other side of the river, the fox snapped his jaws and ate the gingerbread man.

On the day of the race, the hare shot ahead and was soon out of sight. He became so confident of his win that he decided to take a nap in the middle of the race. The tortoise, on the other hand, plodded on steadily and slowly but never stopped.
When the hare woke up from his nap, he realized that he had overslept and ran as fast as he could towards the finish line. However, when he reached the finish line, he was surprised to see that the tortoise had already won the race.
